PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Contribute to treatment research for disorders such as Anxiety and Depression by way of discovering helpful data.

This study examines the effects of biometric recognition &  analysis as plausible tools for adjusting behavioral and psychological states in patients suffering from certain disorders to ultimately improve the effectiveness of current treatments and discover additional treatment options currently unavailable.

PROJECT TERM

12 months

MEETING TIMES

General Research Team Meetings:

TBD by the students & mentors participating in this project to best suit their schedules and needs.

UNLIMITED LAB & RESEARCH TIME

Students are granted unlimited lab time at PVNet to work on this project.

NOTE:

Research sub-groups will also be able to establish their group’s meeting schedules to work best for their group members.

Methods:

Utilize new technology in gathering new and relevant data for treatment option research. Participants will have training and hands-on application in technological tools and equipment such as:

  • Virtual Reality Systems (Oculus Rift, VIVE)

  • Raw EEG Brain Wave Data

  • EEG Headsets

  • AI (Artificial intelligence)

  • Machine Learning

  • Mathematical Modeling and Simulation software

  • 3D CAD design*

  • 3D Printing for prototyping*

*Note: Students interested in mechanical design will have the opportunity to research & design a prototype device which combines a VR headset and EEG headset to facilitate future research.

Dependent upon the performance of the student workgroup, this project aspires to present the project, upon completion, as a publishable paper. Professional writers may be utilized at the end of this project to comply or meet then current publishing norms and standards, and those costs, if any, will be shared but the group.

VR, Biometric equipment, computer systems  & software are provided by PVNet.

Any additional costs which are unforeseen and determined to be required by the research group will be shared among the participants.

Colleges, scouts, employers, and scholarship foundations will recognize this High School PVNET internship program as the ideal measure of your abilities to learn and to succeed as a valuable team contributor to a unique technological revolutionary product.

PVNet’s VISION

To serve the community as a not-for-profit technology center by providing a means by which people can develop their skills through education and hands-on experience with emerging technologies. PVNet has made strides to become a resource for accessing the widest imaginable technology and applications unavailable in schools.

We take pride in our ability to provide immersive and hands-on educational programs that encourages and nurtures self-discovery, applies a distinctive method for promoting the value of thinking, creating, collaborating and developing each student's intelligence ultimately resulting in becoming a trusted partner for parents and schools to adequately preparing students for an unrecognizable future that involves the inevitable use of technology in all aspects of social, professional and personal life.

PVNet believes that:

  • All kids have talents that will greatly benefit their futures if identified early

  • Curiosity is the driving force behind problem-solving and achievement

  • Learning using a variety of methods is tantamount to receiving a "full" education

  • Confidence & interest evolve into skills and experiences when there is opportunity to explore in spaces designed to expose others to relevant and updated tools

  • School alone will not provide the type of learning that makes children competitive, fully "literate", and effective
